Abstract

5026. Claremont, E. A., and Hyde, J. B. March 9. Wire.-Relates to apparatus, shown in elevation in Fig. 1, for measuring the lengths of electric cables, wires, or the like. At opposite ends of the frame a are mounted two equal toothed wheels b, b<x> connected by an endless chain c. Two pulleys d, d<x> are mounted under the wheels b, b<x> and are connected by an endless leather or like band e. The spindles of the pulleys rest in a bar g which also carries additional pulleys f employed to hold the band e horizontal. The ends of the bar g are pressed upwards by springs k in guides j, so that the band e presses the cable p against the chain c which operates the indicator l as the cable travels through the apparatus. The cable is guided by adjustable guides m, q, and in a modification the band e may be above the chain c.
