Abstract
2270. McGarry, J. A. Feb. 1. Planishing. - Horse - shoes are planished by rolling them while supported in a suitable die on the reciprocating carriage 8. The roll 6, provided with a suitable die, is pressed down on its bearings by screws 11, and is rotated from the mainshaft 14 by toothed gearing 16, 17. The carriage 8 is supported by a grooved roller 31, and is hinged at 28 to the crosshead 24 reciprocated by connecting- rods 22. The pass is adjusted by adjusting the roller 31 by means of wedges 35 actuated by screws 39.
