Steering-Linkage Mechanisms And Four-Wheel Steering
(AREA)
Abstract
193. Shaw, H. F. Jan. 3. Motor road vehicles.-The steering - mechanism is made self-locking, so that the wheels can not be deviated by meeting obstructions, while danger of giving the wheels too rapid a turn is also avoided. The Figure shows the mechanism in plan. To the front axle A or other part of the vehicle is pivoted a short link B, connected to the lever C, by which the rods D attached to the stub axles are actuated. The lever C has a circular opening in it, in which works an eccentric G mounted on the vertical steering- shaft F.
