Abstract
16,588. Groeschel, E. W. Sept. 18. Hooks and eyes.- A hook for engaging an eye consists of a single piece of wire bent to form shanks a, a<1>, a bill b, eyelets c, c<1>, one end e of the wire extending across and imparting rigidity to the book, and the other end d passing forwards to form a loop h, and an upward bend f to prevent the eye from becoming accidentally disengaged. In a modification, the end d is first formed with the bend f, and then with the loop h. In both forms the free end of the wire may be bent alongside the part d. The loop h is raised slightly above the shanks to allow it to spring back when engaging the eye.
