Abstract

9873. Hewitt, J., Lindstrom, C. A., and Hewitt, T. May 29. Motor road vehicles.-Relates to electric motors, batteries, and connections for propelling motor cars and like vehicles. Two independent motors are employed for propelling one axle or the opposite wheels on one axle. They are supplied with current at a low voltage from a secondary battery, the fields c of the two motors being permanently connected together in parallel, and their armatures d in series. The battery cells p are arranged in several sets (four shown) which, by means of a suitable switch, may be connected in parallel, parallel-series, or series, as shown at r, s, and t respectively, so as to vary the electromotive force and consequently the speed of the motors. A reversing-switch is introduced at l.
