Abstract

9641. Peters, C. F. May 25. Music chord and note indicators teaching music.- The invention relates to an apparatus for giving instruction in the violin, mandolin, or other similarlytuned instrument, and consists of a chart C on which are shown in four columns, corresponding to the strings, the names of the notes produced on those strings together with various key signatures and figures representing the shifts. Above this chart is a sliding cover A having holes B also arranged in columns and numbered according to the fingers, and other holes D, E for exhibiting the key signatures and figures indicating the shifts. By suitably placing the cover on the chart, any key signature may be exhibited through the hole D, while the fingering and the notes produced are shown through the holes B and the corresponding shift through E. The device may be modified to show the fingering of various arpeggios, and its construction may be slightly varied.
