Abstract

8723. Brown & Co., J., and Wallace, W. C. May 11. Air supply, heating.-Relates to tubular airheaters in the uptake of a steam-boiler or other furnace. The air space of the heater is traversed by a horizontal division plate d with holes, slightly larger than the heating-tubes a which pass through them. The air is thus brought into close contact with the tubes in its passage from the top to the bottom of the air space. Depending from the plate a are transverse partitions k of varying length as shown. Air enters the heater at f, and leaves it at h, one outlet only being shown in Fig. 1. The tubes are arranged in transverse rows, which are not quite parallel, but slightly inclined to each other alternately in opposite directions.
