8054. Lunant, J. May 1. Wheels; tramcars.- Means for protecting the pneumatic tyres of tramcar and other vehicle wheels are shown in section in Fig. 2 as applied to a road-vehicle wheel. The air tube i is surrounded by a cover h provided with projections c, which take under the inturned edges d of a steel or similar protecting- band b. A metallic strip m embedded in the cover may help to hold the projections c in position, and the cover may be in one piece, as shown, or it may be divided along the tread. An outer iron hoop a is secured to the band b, and is flanged for railway or tramway vehicles. The whole may be enclosed in a rubber band.
