Sizes &c.-A size for preparing distemper or water colours and for use in printing wall papers, and in sizing surfaces preparatory to painting and varnishing them, is made from ordinary starch which has been rendered soluble by soaking in dilute nitric acid or by any other known method. When dissolved, this starch forms a liquid glue which does not solidify for some time.
