Bedsteads.-Relates to a portable and folding bedstead for military and hospital use, and also for hotels and lodging-houses. The side bars or angleirons are pinned or riveted at each end to T-shaped tubes 2, each of which is provided at top and bottom with part of a rule joint, Fig. 4, the other part of which receives the tubular pillars 16, 17 and legs 3, 4 ; one part of the joint has a recess 32, into which a corresponding projection on the other fits. Sleeves 9 sliding on the side bars are connected to clamps 5, 13 on legs and pillars by rods 7, 11 jointed at each end. The T-pieces 2 at each end are connected by a transverse tube, through which and through the T-pieces passes a rod with nuts 25 at the ends. The sleeves 9 are locked in place by spring catches 38, Fig. 7. The pair of spring catches at one end are unlocked by means of one of the two handles 34, fixed on a square shaft, which is pivoted to lugs 33 on the T-pieces 2 ; after unlocking the catches, the end frames and legs can be folded over and under the bed bottom without disturbing the bedding. The lath-work bottom frame 26 is suspended by clips 27, 28 from the side angle bars and from the tube connecting the T-pieces 2.
