Self-Closing Valves And Venting Or Aerating Valves
(AREA)
Abstract
3378. F³rer, C. Feb. 20. Waste pipes; traps; ventilating.- A trapped ventilating-device for waste water pipes and the like, shown in the Figure, has an automaticallyopening air-inlet valve for the purpose of preventing the water from being drawn out from the intercepting-trap. The angular pipe c is let into the waste pipe b behind the water seal a, and carries on its free leg the valve case d, which has its edge bent inwards. The bell valve g dips into glycerine or non-volatile liquid in the groove f of the valve casing, open below so that the vapourtight seal is maintained even in the presence of dust or sand. Gas-tight joints i, j are made, and the plate k prevents the penetration of water.
