Abstract

3268. Lawson, J. W. Feb. 19. Knobs-Door &c. knobs are made from a star-shaped blank A, Fig. 2, some of the rays A<3> of which are straight at the ends, while others A<2> are pointed, and the angles A<5> are rounded off. This blank is drawn to the shape shown in Fig. 3, and then pressed in a die C so that the rays are brought together in a space between a flange B<1> and a shoulder B<2> on the shank B. The bottom of this die is flush with the top of the shoulder B'. The part of the shank between the flange and shoulder is of square section, of a diameter less than that of the shank proper, and the straight ends of the rays A<3> come against the square portion, thereby preventing rotation of the knob on the shank. Solder may be applied to give further security.
