Abstract
23,216. Joedicke, H. O. Nov. 21. Points and switches; electric railways. - Relates to switches for railways on which run wheels with U-shaped peripheries, and to switches for conductors on electric railways. The arrangement has two movable tongues 5, 6; the switch tongue 5 is pivoted at 5<a>, and the tongue 6 is pivoted at both ends 6<0>, 6<b>, so that it can be displaced by a wheel proceeding in either direction along the rails 1, 3. A switch lever and connection 11 is used to displace the tongue 5 and springs 7, 8, 9 hold the tongues in place. Grooved rails 12 guide the wheels over the points, and a guard rail 10 is also provided. When the switch is used for overhead conductors, slotted guards 16, curved outwardly at their ends, guide. the trolley wheel by engaging its axle y<1>, and a grooved rail 17 engages its flange.
