The communication between the service pipe E and the flushing - pipe A is regulated by a lift valve F, the upper end of which is fitted with a piston which works in a cylinder.D. The chamber D communicates by a time-passage H with a service pipe, and by an opening B with a pushvalve. When the latter is operated, it relieves the pressure on the top of the valve F, and allows it to rise to deliver a flush. The valve then closes slowly by the flow of water through the passage H. The valve spindle K may be attached to the operating-lever of the closet discharge valve, so as to operate it simultaneously and automatically. The valve may be closed either by a weight on the lever of the closet discharge valve or by hydraulic pressure acting on a piston attached to this lever.
