Abstract

21,639. Pass, E. de, [Soc. des Freins Automatiques "Stop"]. Oct. 30. Brakes.-The buffer rods c, d on each vehicle are connected to a lever e, which is pivoted at f and is connected by a rope g to the brake block i. The bunching up of the carriages due to the slowing down of the locomotive causes the brakes to be automatically supplied. The upper ends of the rods e may be connected by a cord to enable the brakes to be applied by hand power from one end of the train, and each rod is provided with a spring k for taking off its brake immediately the carriages open out again.
