Abstract

12,152. Macaire, G. June 10. Sensitized films; transparencies.-Relates to a method of making a transparent film with sensitized coating, on a backing of opaque paper from which it can be stripped off. The paper backing is first coated with a layer of insoluble gelatine mixed with barium sulphate. An impermeable coating of wax, rubber, resin, or the like is then applied. Alternate coatings of collodion, gelatine, or casein are afterwards applied, the gelatine or casein being rendered insoluble by formalin. Finally, a sensitized coating is applied. Celluloid may be substituted for the collodion and gelatine. The films are exposed on their backings, then stripped, and developed &c. They are specially adapted for kinematographic films, and for transparencies for advertising or decorative purposes, or for magic-lantern slides.
