Flues, internal.-Return flues i of segmental section are arranged on one or both sides of an internal furnace flue, being so arranged as not to rise above the top of the latter. Cross water tubes, curved or straight, are preferably fitted in these flues as shown in Fig. 1. The furnace flue may be concentric, as shown in Fig. 1, or eccentric as shown in Fig. 3, and in the latter case it may be disposed towards one side, one return flue only being then employed. In Fig. 5, two furnace flues and an extra cylindrical return flue i<1> are shown.
