Sewage sludge or other material used for manure &c. is fed between two rotary concentric cylinders A and B, supported in an inclined position on rollers F, and is subjected to the action of a current of hot air entering the cylinder B at X and passing at Y into the space between the two cylinders, from the feedend of which it may be withdrawn by a fan or stack. Louvres C and D control the motion of the material in the apparatus.
