Abstract

6685. Heinrich, R. O. A. March 28. Primary batteries. -Relates to H- shaped cells A in each of which is a liquid electrode E and a common electrolyte A<1>. The invention consists in constructing the diaphragms which separate the electrodes from the electrolyte of two perforated d i s c s B, C, either made in one with, or fixed on, a vent tube D. The lower disc C is preferably funnel-shaped. The space between the discs B, 0 is packed with a porous material F, such as asbestos. The tubes D serve as vents for the air in the bottom of the tubes A when fitting the cells up. After the electrolyte has been filled into the cells, they are closed by a layer P of paraffin, a piece of cork J, and a hot sealing-mixture S.
