Abstract

26,589. Haegermann, H. Dec. 16. Pocket umbrellas.-Relates to a pocket umbrella in which the ribs are jointed at the middle, so that they can fold back when the umbrella is closed. Each rib g, h is in halves jointed together at A. The stick is in three sections a, b, and c, which telescope into each other when the umbrella is closed as in Fig. 2. The point and handle of the stick may be screwed off. When closing, the umbrella stick is placed vertically with the handle upwards ; the outer sections h of the ribs then fold down into the position shown in Fig. 2. When it is desired to keep the ribs straight, shoes q hinged on the stretchers f are mounted so as to press on the back of the sections h, when the umbrella is closed in the ordinary way by pulling down the runner e.
