Abstract

9339. Edmunds, H. April 22. Switches.-The switch, which is applicable to arc lamps, motors, &c., is primarily intended to move slowly over a series of resistance contacts and to give a quick break on finally breaking the circuit. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the switch arm C is adapted to make a connection between a fixed contact-strip E and a series of studs F' ... F<5>. An arm A operated by the worm B and wormwheel B<1> is connected to the arm C by a spring D, and is fitted with a bar d sliding through a hole in the arm C. The bar is fitted with a nut d' to engage the arm C in moving the switch to the 'on' position. The spring D gives the quickbreak, and may be used in switches with single contact.
