Abstract
5517. Fleming, T. H. March 7. Saddle supports.-The saddle-pin p passes through holes in two superimposed plates a, b, and is securely clamped thereto by a screw d which passes through a lug d' on the upper plate a. The pin p passes into the diagonal tube t, in which it is free to move. Two springs g are clamped between the plates a, b, and may be secured at their rear ends g<1> to the pin h and at their front ends g<2> to a clip on the top bar. The front ends g<2> may be attached to a clip on the diagonal tube t, in which case the device is suitable for either a lady's or a gentleman's machine. The Provisional Specification states that a pneumatic or other spring may be used.
