Abstract

2699. Schou, P., [Kamp, H.]. Feb. 2. Lift valves ; repairing, facilitating. -To facilitate repairing, a rubber or like ball valve C is used with a screwdown valve B,which consists of a metal plate b provided with a suitable facing b<1> and having a projection b<2> hollowed at the end to engage with the ball C. When the valve B is sufficiently raised from its seat a, the valve C is pressed against its seat a<1> by the fluid behind it, which is thereby cut off ; on now lowering the valve B, the projection b<2> forces the valve C from its seat and allows fluid to pass to the outlet a<2>. When the valve B is in its lowest position, the facing b<1> engages with its seat and cuts off the fluid supply. The ball C is introduced into the casing A by means of a cap D hollowed at d.
