10. Reid, S. Jan. 1. Brakes for bicycles are constructed so as to reduce the friction on the tyre. Two india-rubber cones C are secured by nuts K to axles J, which are fixed by nuts L to a plate formed on the brake rod. The cones are adapted to engage the sides of the tyre B, as shown. The cones may be bushed with brass. Cylinders inclined to each other may replace the cones.
