Abstract

30,087. Mayman, E. Dec. 20. Potatoes, peeling and washing.-A drum A, having galvanized iron end plates a and wooden hoops a<1> carrying suitable scrapers, is mounted on a spindle a<2> supported in suitable bearings. A water tank C is supported on nuts c working on screws c<1>. The tank is raised or lowered when the wheel c<6> is thrown into engagement with the wheel c<3> on the top of the screw. A bar c<5> may be carried on the top of the tank to push the conical wheel c<6> automatically out of gear when the tank is raised sufficiently high. The bar is moved by hand to bring the wheels into gear again. For transporting the apparatus, castors are carried on sliding bars G which can be forced down below the legs by depressing the tank.
