Abstract

1744. Sanderson, T. Jan. 25. Washing and peeling potatoes.-In a potatopeeling machine of the type in which an internally-roughened horizontal cylinder is rotated in a tank, water is supplied by the branches 10 of an axial pipe 7, which may be fitted with sprinklers 11. The cylinder 1 is carried by flanged sleeves 3, 4, which run on roller bearings contained in an oil-cup fitted in or on the machine frame. The tank 20, provided with adjustable water-outlets 21, 22, is mounted on swivelling disks 27 turned by handles 25, so that the potatoes may be discharged into a hopper 26. A perforated slidevalve may replace the outlets 21, 22. According to the Provisional Specification, an automatic tippler or a stationary overflow vessel may be fitted to the pipe 7.
