Beer and o t h e r beverages, raising and drawing-off.-Relates to siphon heads for attachment to bottles, jars, and other vessels for containing beer and other beverages, such head containing a reservoir of carbonic acid for forcing o u the beverage from the vessel. The head is constructed so that it may be readily attached to and detached from t h e bottle or other vessel, and the discharge from the carbonicacid reservoir and that from the liquid are e simultaneously operated so as to avoid the danger of bursting. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the appliance is shown screwed on to a bottle a and consisting of a casing b containing a reservoir f of carbonic acid covered by a flexible diaphragm g, which will be blown out if too great a pressure accumulates in the casing b. The reservoir f rests on a spring h, and it has a spring discharge valve i which, when the reservoir f is pressed downwards, is opened by a nipple k, while its descent also operates the lever d<2>, by which the valve d' is turned so as to allow the liquid to escape. The carbonic acid enters the bottle a through the passage l. There is also described a siphon head with a fixed gas reservoir, the discharge valve of which is opened by attachments to the valve which, when turned from the exterior of the casing b, opens the liquid-discharge valve.
