Abstract
29,451. Taylor, E. H. Dec. 13. Emulsions, making.- Emulsions are prepared from essential oils with water for use as flavourings for cordials and other beverages such as aerated waters &c., for perfumery, for confectionery, for use by soap makers, chemists, &c., or for other purposes. The apparatus consists of a container formed in two parts C, C riveted together at C, and either fixed in a stand B mounted in a frame for concentric or eccentric rotation or suspended by links to receive an oscillatory motion. In the fixed form, the container is provided with rotary or oscillatory agitators E mounted on a shaft D. In the moving forms, the agitators are fixed to the inside of the container, and, in one form, a perforated diaphragm is placed across the container. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the agitators are operated by a link f and bevel gear h, h<1>. The container is provided with a water-supply tank F for supplying a definite amount, and a funnel l for the essential oils &c. Carbonic-acid gas is forced into the container either by pump or from a cylinder G. The necessary outlet valves and gauges are also attached.
