Abstract
26,353. VÚrel, A. A. Nov. 12. Pneumatic wheels; spring wheels; spokes.--Two forms of elastic wheels are shown in sectional side elevation. In the form shown in Fig. 1, spokes C' project from the hub C through holes C<2> in a ring A, which is rigidly connected by spokes A' to the rim B. On each spoke C<1> is a spiral spring D which is held in position between the ring A and a stop D<1> on the spoke. In a modified form, each spoke C<1> may be in two parts, one attached to the hub and the other to the rim, their ends being connected by springs F. Fig. 2 shows a form with two spring-controlled rings G, H, the inner one being connected by spokes H<1> to the rim B, and the outer one by spokes G' to the hub C. In each case, the springs may be replaced by rubber blocks E or by inflated balls or tubes. When two rings are employed, they may have a pair of interposed rubber rings as described in Specification No. 24,348, A.D. 1897.
