Abstract

25,643. Stockinger, A. Nov. 4. Appliances for securing to head.-The appliance in its simplest form, as shown in underside plan view in Fig. 2, consists of a comb A which is slid out of or into a casing B by a rod C' projecting through the side of the hat crown D so as to engage with or be disengaged from the wearer's hair. Fig. 5<b> shows a modification consisting of two combs pivoted to a casing at C<4> and operated by a rod C<5>. Fig. 5<a> shows another modification, in which the combs are replaced by hooks or pins B operated by a screw C. Fig. 7 shows another modification, in which four combs B are pivoted between two plates A, A' and are moved into or out of the casing by operating the rods c. Fig. 8 shows another modification, consisting of two combs B attached to resilient plates A<1> which intersect each other and are fixed in the hat so that the pressure of the wearer's head causes them to engage with the wearer's hair. Fig. 12 shows another modification, in which the hooks B engage with the hair when the rod C is drawn out to the right hand so as to bring the hooks B opposite the slots in the plate A. Other modifications are described, in which are used two combs with the points of their teeth facing each other and sliding towards or away from each other.
