25,604. Lingard, R. Nov. 4. Brakes for bicycles, tricycles, &c. A flange f, formed on a wheel e, keyed to the crank axle, is engaged by two brake shoes g, g<1>, carried by a lever h, pivoted at i to the cycle frame. A spring k normally presses the lever h against a stop l, and keeps the brake out of engagement. The lever is actuated by pulling a cord m either by means of a foot-lever p pivoted to the bottom bar, or by means of a hand-lever on the handle-bars. The Provisional Specification states that a detent may be provided to keep the brake continuously in action when desired.
