24,911. White, W. M. Oct. 27. Lubricating.-The invention is illustrated as applied to ball bearings, but is applicable also to roller bearings and plain bearings. When the invention is applied to a wheel hub, the interior of the hub is so constructed that it tapers outwardly. When the wheel rotates, centrifugal force causes the lubricant to be carried to the bearings. The same construction is adopted for a fixed bearing, such as a cycle bottom bracket, but in this case the oil flows to the bearings under the action of gravity Oil, retaining.-According to the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the cone C is formed with a recess C' into which projects the flange D<2> on the bearing-cup D.
