Abstract
15,883. Gabriel, R., and Loewenthal, E. July 3. Umbrellas, attaching to cycles.-Relates to an umbrella holder for cycles. It is attached to the handle-bar by the clamp shown in Fig. 4, the portion A encircling the bar. The arm B, which is pivoted, can be clamped in any position by the nut A. Pivoted between jaws in the arm B is a screw C. A nut D serves to clamp it in any desired position. The handle of the umbrella &c. is fixed to the screw C, Figs. 4 and 11. Fig. 11 shows a telescopic form of umbrella handle, the spring pin f<2>, fitting into holes f<3> drilled in a groove f<4> in the inner rod F, serving to adjust the length. When not in use, the end of the umbrella rests in the clip H, Fig. 13, which is attached by the clamp h to the front fork. The umbrella may be used as a support for a cycle by resting its end on the ground, the length of the stem being suitably adjusted by the pin f<2>.
