14,626. Morgan, D. J. June 16. Sash fastenings.-A plate a is pivoted by means of a slot on a pivot b on a base-plate A. A knob c, provided with an operating-cam f, is turned to cause the hooked end a' of the plate to engage a pin e and then to be drawn backwards to draw the sashes tightly together. This is effected by a shoulder f<2> on the cam first engaging and then moving past a pin g<1> on the plate a. To unfasten the sashes, the knob is reversely rotated, a lug f<3> on the cam engaging a second pin g to move the plate forward and then rotate it. To render the movement of the plate more certain, a pin g<2> on the lower side engages a suitably-shaped slot h in the base-plate. A jaw i may be formed on the plate a to engage a pin on the base-plate, when the plate is pushed back. The pivot b may have an eccentric on it below the base-plate to move across the joint between tne sashes and prevent tampering with the arm, or to project a latch forward into a recess in the upper sash, or, if the fastener is near the frame, into one of a number of recesses in the frame to secure the sashes in a closed or partially-open position. In a modification, the pivot is operated by a removable pin key engaging holes in the face of the eccentric, which rotates in a casing in the plate a. Pins are formed in this casing to replace the pins g, g'. When the fastening is not required to be unfastened for some time, the pin holes may be filled in with wax. Protecting-covers may be provided in all the forms, and the operating portions may be removable.
