13,460. Plant, J. H. June 1. Chain gearing ; mounting and securing chainwheels on shafts.-Relates to a combined chainwheel and bearing cup for the hubs of cycles and the like. The combined disc or cup and chainwheel C consists of a ring c having teeth c' and a boss c<2> forming the ball-bearing cup which screws into the end of the hub barrel A. The end of the barrel has a flange a which takes into a recess c<3> in the ring c. The parts are locked in position by a screw F<1>. Modifications are described, in one of which the combined chain-wheel and cup is locked to the barrel by a locking-ring, and in another, instead of screwing the boss into the barrel end. the flange a is formed eccentrically and engages with the recess, which is also made eccentrically to the boss, which slides into the barrel end. The two parts are fixed together by a locking-ring.
