Abstract

8850. M³ller, J. April 7. Instruments with sonorous strings.-The invention consists of a keyboard stringed instrument in which several strings can be played simultaneously by one key. Underneath each key h is a lever a, which is capable of a certain amount of longitudinal travel, and the front end of which is kept raised by a spring m'. The underside of the levers a have pins d, adapted to pluck the strings, and suitable damping-pads d<1>, A cruciform block v, the lower leg of which is pointed, is pivoted to the key, and, when the latter is depressed, engages with one side of a saddle-shaped notch in the lever a, which is accordingly depressed and at the same time moved lengthways, thus plucking the strings. The lever a on rising is in position for being actuated again, but this time the block v engages with the other side of the notch.
