Abstract
8210. Tiltman, A. H. March 30. Ventilators ; valves.-On the outer end of the tube A is hinged a grating C ; on the inner end is a hinged flap D hinged at the lower side to the frame G, and having side wings E to prevent the air from escaping sideways when the flap is open. The faces of the frame and stops are covered with india-rubber to prevent noise on opening and closing. The flap is opened and closed by a rope connected to a bracket M on the flap D. The front plate H of the flap D is of glass, and the grating C may be replaced by. a sheet of mica. The hinge of the flap D is made so that the flap can be easily detached, and the grating C is also removable to enable the interior of the ventilator to be cleaned out. In the outlet ventilator, the grating and flap are interchanged.
