Abstract

591. Worsley, P. J., and United Alkali Co. Jan. 8. Allcaline hydrates.-Caustic soda or potash is prepared from the corresponding carbonate by adding oxide of iron, as in the known Loewig's process, the reaction taking place, according to this invention, by agitating the mixture while it is on the bed of a Mactear or equivalent furnace.
