Abstract

189,230. Hobbs, H. T., and Knowles, W. Aug. 26, 1921. Drinking-vessels and cylindrical articles, cleaning.-A machine for washing tumblers and like vessels, of the kind in which reciprocation of the vessel to be cleaned causes rotation of a cleaning brush and relative reciprocation between the brush and the vessel, comprises a base-plate a on which is mounted a footstep bearing b for an archimedian screw c, with which a perforated platform d is adapted to engage, the platform being kept in its uppermost position by a spring e. The brush f is mounted on the end of the archimedian screw and adapted to project inside the vessel to be cleaned which rests inverted upon the platform d, the whole being immersed in water. Reciprocation of the vessel and platform will cause rotation of the brush, and also relative reciprocation between brush and vessel thus cleaning it completely. The footstep bearing b is adjustable and a bearing ring g takes the upward thrust of the spring.
