Moulds; processes.-Cement &c. blocks are formed in moulds of such light construction as to require support against the initial hydrostatic pressure, the moulds being withdrawn from their supports while the material still requires support on all sides but is sufficiently set to allow the moulds to stand alone without distortion. The moulds Fig. 7 comprise sides 5, 4, and wedgeshaped members 8 adapted to slide along corresponding members 9, 12, Fig. 2, on the supporting cradles 1, layers 10 of gypsum being provided to ensure close engagement and prevent jamming. The bottoms 6 of the moulds are supported in blocks 7 and may carry cores which are stripped from the material during the removal of the mould. The members 12 may be adjusted vertically by screws 13.
