188,225. Taylor, H. S. Nov. 25, 1921. Non-metallic and composite s h o e s ; fixing.- A shoe for horses or other animals comprises a sole A of balata, rubber or rubbered canvas, to the under side of which a rubber part B having roughened bars or other projections is vulcanized, moulded, or otherwise attached, and an upper part E integral with or attached to the sole A. The shoe is attached to the hoof by rails having washers, or a plate, embedded in the part B, the ends of the nails 'being turned over after passing through the part E as shown. A V-shaped piece may be cut out of the sole so that the shoe may be altered to suit different widths of hoof. A cavity or recess may be formed at the part F, and the centre part of the sole may be perforated for ventilation. The rear part D may ba deeper than the forward part.
