Abstract
187,558. Hartman, H. B. May 23, 1922. Gases, treating electrically.-In an ozone generator, two plates 1, 2 provided with vertical cooling fins 12 and central gas chambers 7, 14 are bolted together by their thickened rims over a gasket 26a. Against the inner faces of the plates are dielectric sheets 25, of " bakelite " &c., between which is an aluminium electrode plate 26 having radial ribs. Air to be treated flows through the spaces thus provided between the aluminium plate 26 and the dielectrics and around the edge of the aluminium plate from the chamber 7 to the chamber 14, the dielectrics having central apertures 25<a>. Electric connection with the aluminium plate is made bv a bolt 18 surrounded bv an insulator 17 fitted into the chamber 14. The inner end of the bolt 18 may be protected by a non-conducting sleeve 21. The outer plates 1, 2 a.re earthed. The apparatus may be combined with plant for purifying water by ozone and for drying the air to be ozonized.
