Number and time of working of machines.- Comprises a device for indicating the progress of' working operations, consisting in the provision for each operation of a paper or like strip so arranged on a surface relative to a time scale as to indicate thereon with its ends the commencement and the end of the operation, the strips and scale being moved relative to an indicator. A surface of any suitable shape is fitted with a time scale d<2> and provided with a series of parallel grooves c which may be undercut, each serving to receive a paper strip a which can be slid along the groove and easily exchanged for another strip. Each operation is represented on the surface by a strip or strips the length of which conforms to the length of the operation according to the scale. An indicator f is arranged at right angles to the scale and strips, and a relative movement of the surface or indicator is effected so that the indicator marks the actual time on the scale. The strips are arranged so that the ends coincide with the indicator at the commencement and end of an operation. The strips are of uniform width and thickness so that an integration of the time values can be effected by weighing. The strips and scale may be arranged on a cylindrical surface moved by clockwork relatively to the indicator or may be arranged on a travelling band. The strips may be also made of insulating material and contact springs carried by the indicator cooperate therewith to control electric circuits operating alarm signals at the commencement and close of an operation.
