Abstract

183,687. Farwell, A. E. Sept. 16, 1921. Attaching hinges to articles.-Relates to gate or door hinges of the type providing adjustment to compensate for drop of the gate, and consists in hanging the gate from a. pintle bar which is vertically adjustable in brackets, the brackets being horizontally adjustable by screw-threaded bolts in the gate-post. The pintle bar 7, Fig. 1, passes through brackets 3, 5 fixed to the gatepost 18, and brackets 2, 4 fixed to the gate 1, being fixed to the upper bracket 3 by a pin 9 passing through one of a series of holes 10 in the bar. The gate swings upon collars 6 fixed to the bar so that by raising the bar the gate will be raised. A collar 11 at the bottom of the bar may be adjusted so as to rest on the bottom bracket and take the weight of the gate.
