Abstract
183,602. Jackson, H. P., and Jackson, T. May 2, 1921. Roundabouts consist of a rotating platform supporting cars which are reciprocated radially and are also rotated, in alternate directions, on their own vertical axes. The cars are secured to vertical shafts L, Fig. 3, journaled in wheeled carriages or trollies E that run on radial tracks D secured to the underside of the rotating platform B. Parallel rails Q, secured to the foundation beneath the platform B, form a curved track and rotate the cars by friction according as either rail is engaged by an horizontal wheel M secured to the lower end of the shafts L and positioned between the rails. The curvature of this track also causes the carriages E to reciprocate along the tracks D so that the cars also have a radial movement. Springs 0, Fig. 3, and O<1>, Fig. 2, maintain the wheel M in contact with one or the other of the rails Q. According to the Provisional Specification, the platform B may be stationary, and the rails Q caused to revolve.
