Abstract

183,277. Brown, S. April 30, 1921. Reels, rod.-A fishing-reel m is adapted to be rotated on a stud s, attached to an arm a, which is pivoted to a fixed casting b and is provided with notches c for engaging a spring-pressed ball in a hole in the casting b so that the reel can be placed parallel or perpendicular to the fishing- rod. An adjustable spring-pressed metal plunger g engages holes h in a side plate i for exerting a check on the rotation of the reel. A milled nut l may be used to press the side plate i against a washer r for exerting a slight check. The reel may be reversed in position by removing the nut l, and a handle n is adapted to be pushed through the reel, a spring o engaging grooves p, q for holding it in its adjusted positions.
