Abstract

182,501. Cosmovici, G. C. Jan. 31, 1921. Steam-pressure sprayers. -In an oil burner of the kind in which a steam jet discharges horizontally across a number of oil outlets having curved lips to produce a fan-shaped flame, the upwardly curved oil ducts 11 leading to the outlets 13 radiate from the centre of curvature O of the outlet lips. The burner comprises a body part 1 divided by a partition 5 into a steam compartment 3 and an oil compartment 4 and a beak portion 2 bolted to the body part 1 and divided by a partition 6 into a steam compartment 8 and an oil compartment 7. The compartment 7 is divided by partitions 10 into the chambers or ducts 11 which communicate with the oil compartment 4 through apertures 12. The openings 13 are separated by solid partitions 14 surmounted by ribs 15. Steam is discharged across the mouths of the ducts through an aperture 16 in the beak 2. The discharge from the oil outlets 13 is equalized by means of adjustable rods 19 carrying conical plugs 17 projecting into the apertures 12. The steam aperture 16 is cleared when necessary by means of a blade 21 on a rod 22 reciprocated by means of a lever 23, and the oil outlets by means of a pronged fork-piece 24 on a member 27 which is reciprocated by means of a lever 29. The compartment 4 is provided with a steam connection 31 for cleaning purposes and with a drain cock 32.
