Fittings, internal; lids.-A box for storing and carrying kinematograph films has a number of independent compartments, each having a separate lid, and is provided with a device which permits only one lid to be opened at a time. A shaft 17 is carried by a bracket 15 mounted upon the front of the box, and has a number of spherical cavities 20 corresponding to the compartments, into which steel balls 23, which slide in bosses 19 on the bracket, are adapted to engage. The cavities are displaced at angular intervals round the shaft, which may be rotated by a knurled knob 18 which indicates when any compartment may be opened. A cavity 26 is provided on an extension 29 of each of the lids 9, and a slide 30, which moves in conjunction with the lid, has an aperture 35 through which the ball may pass. In operation, a given rotation of the shaft 17 enables the ball 23 to be pushed by the lid 9, as it is opened, into the cavity 20 in the shaft, and the slide 30 is moved upwardly so as to retain the ball in the cavity 20, thereby preventing further rotation of the shaft. The other lids are therefore locked until the lid 9 is again closed, whereupon the ball enters the cavity 26 in the lid and allows rotation of the shaft. The box may have a main lid covering the separate lids, provided with a pin adapted to lock the shaft 17. A sliding platform, resiliently mounted on springs is provided in each compartment, and the compartments may be separated by double walls of steel lined with asbestos.
