Abstract

Rolling - machines. - In machines for kneading and shaping dough rolls of the kind in which a kneading-arm oscillates in a circular path and a vertically reciprocated notching or marking device co-operates therewith, the mechanism is driven from a vertically-reciprocated shaft 1 uniformly driven and housed in a fixed tubular column 2. A bracket 9 is fixed to the shaft 1 and carries a fixed sleeve 13 and pinion 14 thereon and a rotatable flanged sleeve 10 on which is pivotally mounted a set of kneading-arms 12 operated by a segmental pinion 15. The sleeve 10 and each kneading arm 12 are given an axial oscillation by a pin on the fixed arm 8 engaging an inclined slot in the sleeve 10. The marking-device is a star-shaped member 17 carried on a rod 16 and operated by a lever 18 pivoted at 25 to a link 19, which is connected to a rod 20 carried by the fixed part 8. The rod 20 is held in the part 8 by a spring-pressed pawl 22 but is freed therefrom on the upward motion of the arm 9 by a cam-shaped rod 26 which withdraws the pawl, Fig. 5. When the rod 20 is held, the upward movement of the shaft 1 causes the downward actuation of the marking-device 17 and this is withdrawn by a spring 31 on disengagement of the pawl 22. The basins 6 for the dough are pivotally mounted in arms on a sleeve 5 and are given an intermittent rotation bv a pin 38 on a fixed arm 37 which engages vertical grooves 35 during the upward movement of the shaft 1 and curved communicating grooves 36 during the downward movement. The grooves 35, 36 are separated by a step 7'. The basins engage the edge of a cam disc 4 so shaped as to allow each basin to tilt and discharge its contents after passing the kneading point. Stamps or covers 42 are adjustably carried by the bracket 9 on spring- pressed sleeves 40, Fig. 5, and are so positioned that during the reciprocating movement they shape the dough before and after the stamping process. The dough basins may be removed from their pivoted sockets for cleaning by releasing springs 34 which have right-angled bent ends engaging slots in the stems of the basins.
