Abstract
179,522. Merseles, H. E., (Assignee of Merseles, H. R., Simmons, C. F., and Engel, P. H.). May 5, 1921, [Convention date]. Plates &c., washing.-A self-contained unit, comprising a spraying-device, a pump, and a motor for driving the pump, is adapted to be removably secured to the bottom of a washing- tank, sink, or other receptacle supporting the crockery rack. As shown in Fig. 3 mounted in the base of a tank 10, the unit consists of a rigid structure carrying a motor 30 and a pump casing 23 connected with a rotatable spraying-device 75, 76 rotated by jet reaction. The pump comprises stationary curved blades 64 and corresponding blades 63 on a disc 62 secured to the verticallvadjustable motor shaft 40. A screen 95 formed in halves separates the solid particles and can be removed to give access to the screw 71 retaining the sprayer. The bottom of the tank is closed by a plate 24 screwed to a ring 32 integral with the arms 31 of the unit, and this plate is bolted to a ring 85 fixed around the tank opening 15. Liquid is supplied to or removed from the tank through an aperture 90 by way of a valve 92. Fig. 5 shows a sink 102 formed with a lateral well 103 normally covered by a hinged draining-board 104 and containing the washing- unit. In a similar arrangement a tank provided with the unit is arranged at the side of an ordinary sink and is normally covered by a draining- board. In a further example, Fig. 7, the unit is disposed in the well 110 of a sink and the spray is confined by a dome-shaped cover 112 which, together with the crockery rack 13<1>, is held in place by ribs on the floor of the sink. By removing the cover, rack, and spraying-arms, and inserting a plug in the pump discharge neck, the sink may be used in the ordinary manner.
